Why Aim For Common?

Education is important to a society’s growth. After all, knowledge is the most powerful tool there is for the advancement of humanity. An article by Jonathan Butcher titled, “Why Common Core Is Bad For America” discusses several reasons how Common Core will potentially negatively impact intelligence in U.S. students. Although it is Federal law that the U.S. Department of Education cannot have control over curriculum, “the Department circumvented these prohibitions by making Race to the Top funding and No Child Left Behind waivers contingent on a state’s adoption of the Common Core” (Butcher 1).
